It's easier than hamachi or VPN so far, I just thought that I could game over VPN but Warcraft 3 from 2003 is old and does not have native direct IP support or console in the game. To test I was using my laptop connected to my cell phone wifi hotspot then connecting into my VPN on my Server 2019 box, then on my LAN (Computer1) hosting a Warcraft 3 game.īut now I found battle.lan utility that works over direct IP. I have L2TP/IPsec and SSTP and PPTP, but I was using PPTP to try and configure the Warcraft 3 LAN game. It does make sense to change my subnet mask to something like 255.255.255.128 on my VPN or router DHCP to differentiate LANS if I connect to other networks. When using VPN with warcraft 3 some of the packets are not sent and received over LAN and there no LAN game onto the host can be detected. So I thought that using VPN will give me and my friend access to my LAN even LAN gaming like it does when connected in a LAN configuration at home or in an office. One last thing is that I know I could use hamachi and most likely will work but I would like to try my VPN first. I can only access network shares if I type in the IP address like \\192.168.0.x When I am logged into my VPN and type \\Computer1 to try and access that network share it does not come up and has a location error but if I try and access my server address \\Zebritaserver2 it will show that network share.
